John “Jock” Christie VC

Like so many Victoria Cross recipients, John “Jock” Christie VC came from a perfectly ordinary background.

Working as a Parcels Clerk for the LNWR (London and North Western Railway) who originally built Euston, he joined up in 1914 at the beginning of World War One.

It was whilst serving in Palestine that he carried out the actions for which he was awarded his Victoria Cross. He is now remembered by a plaque on one of the black columns in Euston railway station.
