X-Pilot Rendezvous With Waverley and Challenge

On 3rd October 2022 X-Pilot rendezvoused with the Paddle Steamer Waverley and steam tug Challenge at the World War Two Red Sands Maunsell Fort in the Thames Estuary. Having met up, the flotilla sailed further out into the North Sea to the similar Shivering Sands forts.

The X-Pilot website lists their cruises out to see the forts and the shipwreck of the “Richard Montgomery” – the ship famously still loaded with a cargo of aircraft bombs that it never delivered in World War Two.
