Southwark Cathedral by Candlelight

Southwark Cathedral have occasional evenings were photographers are given the run of the building and can use tripods to take pictures lit by flickering candles, for personal use. Tickets can be booked through Eventbrite.

Tripods are essential. A lot of these picture were taken using 30 second exposures as the candles struggle to illuminate a building the size of a cathedral.

All pictures were taken using a Canon 24mm TS-E tilt and shift lens to straighten up the verticals.

The cathedral was very atmospheric in the gloom of candlelight with choral music playing.
