Mayfield Lavender Farm, Banstead

Visitors to Mayfield Lavender Farm in Carshalton (SW London) walk along rows of Lavender plants.

It is not a “pick your own” farm, but there is a shop at the entrance that sell all things lavender, including plants.

There were lots of people in the field. You just need to be ready for the crowds and be creative with photo angles.

Walking through the field there was a constant buzz of bees, flying around pollinating the Lavender flowers.

Butterflies flitted to and fro through the aisles of heather with at least one dragonfly darting back and forth.

The Lavender in this picture was only a metre high, but having the camera on the ground made it look far more dramatic.

Large numbers of people where getting their Instagram/TikTok content just right, miming the same songs over and over again. One person had even brought a portaloo tent to get changed in and had a clothes rack (yes, really!) in the middle of a Lavender Field. Then there were the queues for the spots setup for photographs with props. Taking commercial photographs was only allowed with a special permit.

Sadly, not everyone is considerate with their rubbish. Please tidy up after yourself.
