2026 Salon Privé – Sloane Street, Chelsea, London

As a curtain raiser to the 2026 Salon Privé London Car Show at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, Sloane Street hosted cars valued together at £100 million.

Photography was a bit challenging as Sloane Street was not closed to normal traffic and there was not a huge amount of space around each car.

I decided to photograph a few of the cars using a neutral density filter to give me shutter speeds of five seconds. That way the cars would be sharp with the people around them reduced to a blur. The photos were taken by resting the camera on my bag and using a remote release.

Then it was just a case of getting photos where no cars came into the picture as they passed by. Sloane Street being pretty busy, it meant a lot of patience waiting for the five second gap to get a clean photo.

Given the value of the cars, each had its own security staff in attendance. The security staff did a great job of making sure everyone stayed safe and were not run over trying to get the perfect photo, as well as making sure people didn’t get too close to the cars.
